Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tetsuya Naito from 2013

You can watch this here.

Post by TJ Hawke:

This was the finals of the 2013 G1.

Tetsuya Naito delivers what can only be described as one of the worst big-match performances in the history of professional wrestling. It is hard to believe that a professional wrestler can reach the heights that Naito has reached and still not even pretend to want to sell a leg that is both injured coming into the match *and* has been relentlessly worked over by his opponent.  I mean, even Kota Ibushi and BxB Hulk pretend that their injured legs prevent them from doing anything. They’ll make weird faces. They’ll punch their knee in between ridiculous spots that require full use of their legs. They’ll do something. Tetsuya Naito did absolutely nothing on offense to remotely hint at the fact that his right knee has been brutalized. It is to be admired in a way.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, who I am fan of, is no doubt a flawed performer. He does exactly what he needs to do here though, as almost all of his focus during the heat and later on in the match is on Naito’s injured leg. It was all for naught though, so who really gives a fuck?

Naito’s performance is so bad here that it ruins anything positive about the match. It is so bad that I actually encourage you all to watch it and experience it for yourself. (DUD)
